All sessions are via tele-health, as this has been the most convenient format for the greatest number of people.
I'm motivated to help people get past their pain and become who they were meant to be. Doing this requires trust, curiosity, careful listening, thoughtful feedback, and a full commitment to what is most alive in you. The reward for me is that I get to be present when the next, better, freer and more flexible version of you comes into the world. It's exciting, meaningful work.
Trauma & EMDR
Trauma shows up in some unexpected places: as anxiety, depression, obsessions, compulsions, panic attacks, substance abuse, etc. I'm interested in the big and small traumas that accumulate over time, steering the course of a human life without our full awareness. Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Experiencing (SE) give us "embodied" ways to work with these symptoms, creating an opportunity for permanent change.
I bring eight years' experience working in hospital-based mental health settings, both inpatient and outpatient, where I treated a broad range of mental health issues, including: crisis intervention, severe and persistent psychiatric illness, mood disorders, PTSD, family conflicts, identity and phase-of-life issues, and many others. I have been in full-time private practice for four years, focused primarily on the treatment of trauma
I have additional training / certification in these areas:
Addiction Counseling (Rutgers, ACT)
Bowen Family Systems Theory (Rutgers)
Domestic Violence and Trauma (Rutgers, VAWC)
EMDR (EMDRIA-trained, NJ)
Ontological Coaching (Newfield, Boulder, CO)
Somatic Experiencing, SEP + Conference Assistant (SEI, CO)
Internal Family Systems Theory (IFS / Canada)
Certified Clinical Social Work Supervisor (NASW / NJ)
